Tulips
Fresh tulips fade within a week and rarely survive a trip in your suitcase. Our tulip souvenirs stay beautiful for good. Choose from wooden tulips on a little stand, lifelike artificial tulip bouquets, a Delft Blue vase filled with colourful tulips or cheerful tulip magnets and keyrings. From less than two euros, you can take a piece of Dutch spring home with you, or send it to someone who misses the bulb fields.
Buy Dutch tulip souvenirs: a Holland spring that never wilts
The tulip isn't originally Dutch at all. It grew wild in the mountains of Central Asia and became a treasured garden flower in the Ottoman Empire. In 1593 the botanist Carolus Clusius planted the first tulip bulbs in the Hortus botanical garden in Leiden, and from there things moved quickly. During the famous Tulip Mania of the 1630s, rare bulbs changed hands for sums that could buy a canal house in Amsterdam. Today the Netherlands is the world's largest producer of flower bulbs, and the tulip has become a national symbol alongside the windmill and the wooden clog.
De Holland Winkel has been selling Dutch souvenirs since 2002. In this category you'll find everything shaped like a tulip, from a single wooden tulip to a full bouquet. Looking for products decorated with a tulip pattern instead, such as mugs, tea towels or napkins? Take a look at our Tulips theme category.
Which tulip souvenirs can you choose from?
Wooden tulips
The classic Dutch tulip souvenir: a hand-painted wooden tulip on a stand, in two-tone combinations such as red/yellow, purple/white and white/green. Available on their own or in sets, in a small pottery jar, or as a little bouquet with a gift card, for example in the red, white and blue of the Dutch flag.
Artificial tulips
Lifelike artificial tulips in bouquets of five, with long 40 cm stems. Choose from flamboyant parrot tulips, fringed tulips with frilled petals or full double-petal tulips. Prefer something smaller? There are also sets of artificial tulips in a pot.
Tulips in a vase
A Delft Blue vase with nine colourful wooden tulips is two souvenirs in one. Would you rather put together your own? Display your tulips in a Delft Blue tulip vase, the typically Dutch vase with a separate spout for every stem.
Tulip magnets and keyrings
Wooden tulips of around 8 cm as fridge magnets or keyrings, in every colour of the bulb fields. Buy them individually, in good-value gift sets of 6 or 12, or as extra-large XL magnets. A fun extra: the spinner keyring with a twirling tulip.
Real bulbs or a tulip souvenir?
A bunch of fresh tulips is lovely, but it rarely makes it home in one piece. Taking bulbs back isn't always practical either: they need to go into the ground in autumn, and many countries have strict rules on importing bulbs and plants. A tulip souvenir has none of those problems. It's light, fits in any suitcase and stays in bloom all year round.
- ✓For tourists: an instantly recognisable Dutch souvenir that won't break or wilt.
- ✓For Dutch expats: a cheerful bit of Holland on the windowsill, far from the bulb fields.
- ✓For businesses: tulip magnets and keyrings make an affordable giveaway for international guests.
- ✓As a thank-you: a bouquet of wooden tulips with a card says more than flowers that are gone in a week.
Which tulip colour should you choose?
In the language of flowers, every tulip colour has its own meaning. Red tulips stand for love, yellow for cheerfulness and sunshine, and white for respect or a fresh start. Purple was long associated with wealth and royalty. And orange? That's the colour of the Dutch Royal House and of King's Day, of course. Can't decide? Go for a mixed bouquet, so there's something for everyone.
Frequently asked questions about tulip souvenirs
Do you ship tulip souvenirs abroad? +
Yes. We ship our souvenirs within the Netherlands and worldwide. Unlike fresh flowers or bulbs, wooden and artificial tulips can be sent to friends and family abroad without any worries.
What's the difference between wooden tulips and artificial tulips? +
Wooden tulips are painted and have a cheerful, handcrafted look. They're smaller and very much a souvenir. Artificial tulips look remarkably like the real thing, with long stems and natural-looking leaves, so you can display them in a vase as a lasting bouquet.
How do I keep my artificial tulips looking good? +
Ideally, keep them out of direct sunlight so the colours stay bright. Remove dust with a soft brush or a hairdryer on the cool setting. Wooden tulips can be wiped now and then with a dry cloth.
Can I order tulips in larger quantities? +
Certainly. Looking for tulips for a trade fair, an event or as a corporate gift? Visit our B2B page or email info@hollandwinkel.nl.
Can I add a personal message? +
Yes, we'll include a free card with your message. Would you like the gift nicely wrapped? Choose one of our gift wrapping options.
