Chocolate & Pralines
A souvenir you're allowed to eat: that's Dutch chocolate from De Holland Winkel. Think milk chocolate tulips, clogs and windmills, bars embossed with Amsterdam canal houses, and keepsake tins decorated with Delft Blue, Van Gogh or the Dutch countryside. Much of our chocolate comes in a clog, dish or money box that you keep long after the last piece has gone. For just a few euros, you have a delicious and typically Dutch gift.
Dutch chocolate gifts: a sweet souvenir from Holland
The Netherlands and chocolate go back almost two hundred years. In 1828, Amsterdam chemist Coenraad van Houten patented a press that separated cocoa butter from cocoa powder, the invention that made chocolate affordable for everyone. To this day, a large share of the world's cocoa beans arrives through the port of Amsterdam. And where else do people happily eat chocolate for breakfast, sprinkled on bread as hagelslag?
De Holland Winkel has been selling Dutch souvenirs and treats since 2002. In this category we've gathered all our chocolate with a Dutch theme, from a single bar to a complete gift set with tulips and Delft Blue.
What kinds of Dutch chocolate can you choose from?
Chocolate tulips, clogs and windmills
Dutch icons in milk chocolate: colourfully wrapped chocolate tulips, clogs and windmills, sold by type or as a mix. You'll also find chocolate squares printed with windmills, tulips or Amsterdam scenes.
Chocolate in a keepsake
Two gifts in one: a wooden or ceramic clog, a Delft Blue dish, plate or money box, a tea bag holder or a kissing couple, filled with chocolate. Once the chocolate is gone, the souvenir stays.
Chocolates in a tin
Beautiful tins filled with chocolates, decorated with Delft Blue, embossed canal houses, the Dutch landscape or art from the Rijksmuseum. Afterwards, the empty tin makes a lovely storage box.
Art, Miffy and gift sets
Chocolate featuring Van Gogh's Almond Blossom, Miffy chocolate for little ones, and generous gift sets combining chocolate with wooden tulips and other Dutch treats.
Who is Dutch chocolate a good gift for?
Chocolate is almost always a winner. It's small, light and easy to pack, and Dutch packaging turns it into a proper souvenir. A bar or a bag of chocolate tulips makes an affordable thank-you; a keepsake tin or gift set is a present you'll be proud to hand over.
