Papeneiland is part of the Jordaan and is built in the first part of the 17th centrury. Once a typical working class quarter, it is now trendy to live here. In the corner house was in 1860 a clandestine catholic church established. Papeneiland is one of the most photographic spots in town. Here the waters of the Prinsengracht (canal) and the Brouwersgracht (canal) come together.
