Description / Bookmark "The Great Wave off Kanagawa"
A high wave, on the point of turning, in a choppy sea with three rowboats, braving the waves; Mount Fuji in the background. This is "The Great Wave off Kanakawa", one of Japan's most iconic works. Printed on paper from a Japanese wood print from 1829-32.
Since this is a wood print, many prints were made of it in the 19th century. Most have been lost, but the Rijksmuseum added a print to the collection in 1956.
This little bookmark will never fall out of a book again. With its clever magnetic closure, it clicks itself gently but firmly onto the book, which is also very nice as a gift, because a personal message can be written on the inside!
