Dutch postcards and gift cards: a greeting that stays on the fridge

In an age of instant messages, a real card stands out. You pick it up from the letterbox, turn it over, read the message and prop it on the windowsill or pin it to the fridge. That is exactly why the picture postcard has never gone out of fashion. In Dutch it is called an ansichtkaart, from the German Ansicht, meaning "view": a card that shows a place. And few countries have as many instantly recognisable views as the Netherlands, from the Amsterdam canals and the Zaanse Schans to the flower fields in full bloom each spring.

De Holland Winkel has been selling Dutch souvenirs since 2002. In this category we have gathered all our cards in one place: to post yourself, to tuck in with a present, or to take home as a small keepsake.

What kinds of cards will you find here?

Classic picture postcards

Canal houses in Amsterdam and Delft, houseboats, bicycles decked with flowers, Delft Blue tiles, clogs, tulip fields with a windmill and the Rotterdam skyline. "Greetings from Amsterdam" and the Girl with a Pearl Earring are here too.

3D postcards

Cards with a depth effect that come to life as you move them. Choose from the Skinny Bridge, the Keizersgracht, Amsterdam from above, the Zaanse Schans at sunrise or a colourful tulip field.

Cards with a magnet or keyring

A card and a souvenir in one. Once read, the magnet goes on the fridge or the keyring onto a bunch of keys. Designs include Amsterdam, Rotterdam, Utrecht, The Hague, Delft Blue and paintings by Van Gogh and Vermeer.

Dutch treats on a card

Our Sweet Tastes of NL series celebrates stroopwafels, poffertjes, tompoezen, oliebollen, Dutch apple pie and rusks with aniseed sprinkles. Perfect for anyone who remembers the Netherlands by its flavours.

Postcard boxes and card folders

Boxes of fifty cards featuring works from the Rijksmuseum, Vincent van Gogh, Johannes Vermeer, botanical prints, Artis animals or the sea. Prefer greeting cards with envelopes? Pick a folder with tulips, Delft Blue or the Kissing Couple.

Small gift cards

Little cards to attach to a present, with a Dutch design or a "Happy Birthday" or "Merry Christmas" message. Some come with a mini clog keyring, others with a small bouquet of wooden tulips.

Who is a Dutch card for?

A card is small, flat and affordable, so it suits almost any occasion: a birthday, a thank-you to the neighbours or a greeting to family on the other side of the world.

  • ✓For Dutch expats: a card showing chocolate sprinkles on bread or a tulip field feels like a little piece of home.
  • ✓For visitors to the Netherlands: send a greeting home, or take a postcard box back as a souvenir.
  • ✓For collectors: museum and 3D postcards are lovely to frame or keep.
  • ✓For businesses: a Dutch card is a friendly way to thank international partners and guests.
  • ✓With a present: a matching gift card makes any parcel feel a little more personal.

Frequently asked questions about postcards and gift cards

Are these gift cards the same as gift vouchers? +

No. Our gift cards are small cards, sometimes called gift tags, to attach to or include with a present so you can write a personal message. They carry no monetary value.

Can you send cards abroad? +

Yes. We ship within the Netherlands and worldwide. Cards are light and flat, which makes them one of the easiest souvenirs to send to friends and family overseas. See our shipping costs page for all destinations.

What is a 3D postcard? +

A 3D postcard has a special top layer that gives the picture depth. Tilt the card and the bridges, windmills and tulips seem to rise off the surface. A fun twist on the classic postcard, and a favourite with children.

Can I order cards in larger quantities? +

Certainly. Looking for cards for a hotel, an event or as a corporate gift? Visit our B2B page or email info@hollandwinkel.nl.

Can I add a personal message to my order? +

Yes, we'll include a card with your message free of charge. Would you like the present nicely wrapped as well? Choose from our gift wrapping.
