The Dutch have been walking in wooden shoes for centuries. The oldest examples found during excavations in Amsterdam date back to the thirteenth century. Clogs were traditionally carved from poplar wood: light, sturdy and perfect for anyone spending the day in a wet field or a cowshed. They were part of Dutch traditions too. Young men once carved a decorated courting clog for their sweetheart, and children placed their clog by the fireplace hoping Sinterklaas would fill it with a treat.
Today the clog is above all a much-loved symbol of Holland, alongside the windmill and the tulip. Which souvenir clogs are available?
Wooden clogs in four sizes
Choose a pair of 6 cm, 8 cm, 10 cm or 14 cm. In classic farmer's yellow, Delft blue, white, orange or with Amsterdam canal houses. Lovely on a windowsill or in a display cabinet.
Ceramic clogs
Ceramic clogs are made of glazed earthenware and feel a little more substantial. Choose Delft blue with windmills and flowers, or cheerful colours with tulips. There are also tiny clogs to wear as a corsage.
Keyrings and magnets

Clogs with a purpose

Wood or ceramic?
Wooden clogs are light, unbreakable and easy to pack in your suitcase or hand luggage. They are the closest thing to a real Dutch clog. Ceramic clogs are heavier, have a glossy glaze and are more richly decorated, often in Delft blue. They make beautiful ornaments at home, but they are fragile, so we pack them with extra care.

No, all the clogs in this category are souvenirs and decorations. We do not sell clogs for wearing. If you would like to walk around in clogs anyway, our soft clog slippers are a warm and comfortable alternative.
Do you ship souvenir clogs abroad? +
Yes. We ship within the Netherlands and worldwide. Wooden clogs are light and sturdy, which makes them ideal for sending to family and friends abroad. Ceramic clogs are packed with extra care.

Why are souvenir clogs often yellow? +
Farmer's yellow (boerengeel) is the colour of the classic Dutch work clog, often finished with a red or black trim. That is why it is the best-known colour for souvenir clogs. Delft blue and orange are very popular too.
