Cheese boards
Cheese is as Dutch as windmills and tulips, so it deserves a proper Dutch cheese board. Here you will find wooden cheese boards with an inlaid Delft Blue or colourful tile, cheese boards with knives or a complete serving set, and cheese gifts that come with both the board and the cheese. Choose from windmills, tulip fields, Amsterdam canal houses or Van Gogh's Almond Blossom. A cheese board is a typically Dutch gift that never ends up in a cupboard: it comes out for drinks, for lunch and for every cosy evening with friends.
Buy a Dutch cheese board: a taste of Holland on your table
The Netherlands is a true cheese country and one of the world's largest cheese exporters. A slice of Gouda on bread at lunch, cubes of aged cheese with a drink, a red-waxed Edam at a family birthday: cheese is part of everyday Dutch life. No wonder there is a cheese board in almost every Dutch kitchen. A cheese board from De Holland Winkel brings that Dutch atmosphere home, with tiles, windmills and tulips that are recognisable at a glance.
From Edam, the little town that became world-famous for its round cheeses, we have been selling Dutch souvenirs and gifts since 2002. In this category you will find all our cheese boards together, from a small board for two to a large cheese board with knives for the whole family.
Which cheese boards can you choose from?
Wooden cheese boards with a tile
The classic: a wooden cheese board with an inlaid ceramic tile. Pick a Delft Blue tile with windmills or Dutch children, or a colourful tile showing a Dutch landscape. Lovely for serving and just as lovely on display.
Cheese boards with knives and sets
Prefer everything in one go? Choose a cheese board with knives, a board with a Dutch cheese slicer, or a set with a cheese knife and fork. Practical for yourself and a ready-made gift for someone else.
Cheese gift sets
Our cheese board gifts combine a board with Dutch cheese or stroopwafels. A festive package for a birthday, as a thank-you, or for someone who misses the Netherlands.
Colourful and nostalgic designs
Cheerful Amsterdam canal houses in pink, green or black, Holland boards in red, white and blue, a nostalgic windmill or art by Vincent van Gogh. There is always a cheese board to suit your table.
A cheese board as a gift
A cheese board is a gift that almost everyone uses. It is recognisably Dutch, practical and affordable: most of our cheese boards cost less than twenty euros. A wooden cheese board is also sturdy, easy to wrap and easy to pack in your suitcase.
- ✓As a housewarming gift: a new home deserves its first drinks party, and a board to serve the cheese on.
- ✓For Dutch expats: a Dutch cheese board brings a taste of home to the kitchen table, wherever in the world that may be.
- ✓As a souvenir: a typically Dutch keepsake that is actually used at home and brings back memories of your trip.
- ✓As a corporate gift: a cheese board with knives is a stylish, authentically Dutch thank-you for clients and business partners.
Tips: how to build a Dutch cheese platter
A good cheese platter is all about variety. Looking for ideas for your own board? These tips will help you put together a well-balanced selection without any fuss.
- 1Choose three to five cheeses. Try a young or mature Gouda, a crumbly aged cheese, an Edam and a cumin cheese. A goat's cheese or blue cheese adds contrast.
- 2Get the quantities right. As a snack with drinks, 50 to 75 grams of cheese per person is usually enough. If the cheese board is the meal, allow about twice that.
- 3Cut each cheese in its own way. Young cheese in cubes or thin slices with a cheese slicer, aged cheese in rough chunks. Arrange the cheeses from mild to strong.
- 4Add a few extras. The Dutch like to serve cheese with dry sausage, a pot of mustard, nuts, grapes and fig jam. Add some cocktail picks and your board is ready.
Frequently asked questions about cheese boards
What are the cheese boards made of? +
Most cheese boards in this category are made of wood with an inlaid ceramic tile. We also carry cheese boards made entirely of ceramic. The product page shows the exact material and size of each board.
How do I look after a wooden cheese board? +
Wash a wooden cheese board by hand with warm water and a little washing-up liquid, then leave it to dry upright. Avoid the dishwasher and don't leave it soaking in water. Rub the wood with a little food-safe oil now and then, and your cheese board will stay beautiful for years.

Can I order cheese boards in larger quantities? +
