Buy Mondrian souvenirs: Dutch art for everyday life

Few artists have a visual language as recognisable as Piet Mondrian's. His grids of horizontal and vertical black lines, filled with primary colours, have become a worldwide symbol of modern design. You will find them in fashion, architecture, graphic design and interiors. That is exactly why a Mondrian works so well on an everyday object: a mug, a notebook or a scarf instantly becomes a small work of art.

De Holland Winkel has been selling Dutch souvenirs and gifts since 2002. Our museum souvenirs category brings together premium products inspired by the great Dutch masters. On this page you will find everything featuring Mondrian's work in one place, so it is easy to compare and combine.

From windmills to compositions: who was Piet Mondrian?

Pieter Cornelis Mondriaan was born in Amersfoort, the Netherlands, in 1872. He started out painting typically Dutch subjects: polder landscapes, trees by the water and, rather fittingly, windmills. Around 1911 he moved to Paris, where Cubism pushed his work further and further towards abstraction. It was there that he dropped an 'a' from his surname and began signing his work as Mondrian.

In 1917 he co-founded the magazine and art movement De Stijl with Theo van Doesburg and others. Mondrian developed Neoplasticism: art reduced to straight lines, right angles and the colours red, yellow and blue, alongside black, white and grey. He spent his final years in New York, where the energy of the city and its jazz inspired lively works such as Broadway Boogie Woogie and the unfinished Victory Boogie Woogie. He died there in 1944.

Mondrian souvenirs are gifts with a story, but they are also simply beautiful, practical things. Because his work is so graphic, it suits a modern interior just as well as a classic home. And there is something for every budget: from a bookmark as a little extra to an espresso set or scarf as a proper present.
