Peppermint

Peppermint (or mint candy) is a popular Dutch candy. It is a kind of sweet, a delicacy. Peppermint is for sale at almost every cash register in the Netherlands.

The two parts of the name of peppermint "Mentha" which means "strongly smelling" and "piperita" what peppered means. The latter does not mean that peppermint taste like pepper. However, the taste can be quite sharp. In candies, the ratio between oil and peppermint sugar varies greatly, so that the sharpness of the candy also varies and depending on the manufacturer.
