Hats, gloves and scarves: stay warm through a Dutch winter

What is the difference between a short hat, a beanie and a hat with ear flaps? +
A short hat fits closely around the head and comes just over the ears. A beanie is slightly roomier and often has a turn-up. A hat with ear flaps, also known as a trapper or flap hat, has extra panels at the sides that cover your ears and part of your cheeks. It's the warmest option in freezing weather or on the bike.
